Castle Lake is a glacial lake, and home to a wide variety of animals and plants: trout, bears, deer, otters, frogs, osprey, red columbine, fawn lily, and shasta pentstemon. Bathrooms, showers, camping, RV parking, cabins, boating, beach area with kids park, and concessions store are available at the resort.Ĭastle Lake is the largest and deepest alpine lake in the area offering water sports, picnicking, hiking, camping, and swimming. On the South side of the lake locals and visitors enjoy the Reynold’s Resort for a small day use fee. Various fishing, swimming, and boating sites are easily available on the north side of the lake. Lake Siskiyou is a reservoir used for watershed protection, flood control, and local recreation. Mount Shasta has formed the most fascinating and some of the largest caves to be explored. The view offers sites of four states and the Pacific Ocean. Shasta, the 14,162′, picturesque volcano challenges novice and experienced mountaineers. the park is named for the 6,000′ tall glacier-polished crags. Castle Crags offers 28 miles of back country hiking trails including the Pacific Crest Trail passing through the park. The State Park offers swimming and fishing in the Upper Sacramento River.

The quiet beauty of the falls grows until it completely overtakes the viewer. Located at the end of an easy 5-minute walk down a beautiful mossy, wooded trail. Mossbrae Falls Trail is CLOSED (8/15/12) until further notice. The majestic falls is a mile hike along the Upper Sacramento River and Pacific Union’s railroad tracks. One of the more scenic waterfalls in Northern California is the panoramic 50′ high and 150′ wide Mossbrae Falls fed by springs that cascade down the canyon wall into the Upper Sacramento River.
